![]() ![]() It has full Belgian proofs (no Germans ones) and no "triangle" stamp on the back of the frame or slide. Here is an example of a pistol issued to the postwar Berlin Polizei in the American Zone of Occupation with such a serial number. Is this perhaps a special postwar contract serial number run without the prefix letter? So, my question is were the FN 1922 pistols utilized by various postwar German Police agencies made during the war of after? They seem to fall into the 1943 serial number range since they do not have an "A" prefix. LSB: 131007BE02 Make: FN/Browning Model: 1910/55 Serial Number: 644847 Year of Manufacture: circa 1968 Caliber.380 ACP (9mm Kurz) Action Type: Single Action Semi-Automatic with Removable Magazine Markings: The left side of the slide is marked Browning Arms Company St Louis, Mo & Montreal P.Q. My understanding is that when the Belgians continued producing this pistol in late 1944 they used an "A" prefix to distinguish the pistols made after liberation. I know that the Germans re-configured the serial numbers to run in blocks of 100,000 with a letter suffix in late 1943 until the end of production in 1944. ![]() ![]() I understand that wartime serial numbers continued into aprox 155,000 under German occupation. Using the above chart you should now be able to distinguish the year and gauge of your Superposed. I am confused concerning FN 1922 serial numbers. Figure 1-A Reading Your Serial Number Below, use the chart to determine the year your Superposed was manufactured. ![]()
